We're doing good
So it's been about a week since we gave Buddy away to my good friend Lindsey and I have to say that Ian is doing a lot better than we thought. The first couple of days were the hardest for us but we've seemed to manage to get by. We've been keeping Ian busy but sometimes that doesn't help. It still breaks my heart because Ian can still see Buddy in his thoughts. Like today when he came home from Preschool Ian says to me" Mom I saw Buddy's ears through the window" when Papi and I were parking the Burban. I said to him" no sweetie remember Buddy is with Lindsey" and he says to me " I know mommy I just miss him". We're doing everything to make this transition not so hard for him but I guess you can't erase memories that you make with a pet. We tell him that it's O.k. for him to miss him and remember him but we just want him to make sure that he knows that Buddy won't be coming back to us. And Ian is slowly starting to understand that I guess time will only tell and I'm sure Ian will be just fine it's just hard to have to explain something so complicated to a 4 year old because they don't understand at that age. Now we just have to go and get him his fish and it's kinda cute because Ian says he will name one of his fish Buddy and Stephen and I haven't decided if we'll let him do that because we don't know if that will help him it might or it might not we'll just have to wait and see on that too. Life is so complicated and it's harder when you have kids because all you want to do is make them happy and give them everything you possibly can to full fill their dreams and when you do sometimes it doesn't work out and you destroy all those happy days that they were experiencing with the most important part of their day and that was Buddy for Ian. But let me tell you guys this Stephen and I won't make that mistake again next time we will make sure we make the right decision and that we think about it very well and that we're making the right decision. So this weekend we will be getting fish. I'll have to post pics of the fish after we get them. Let's hope this helps Ian and that it brings happiness to his little sweet face that he so deserves... Wish us lots of luck..
